WHO thinks, a lot of cities face 3 kinds to threaten healthily: The easy place of infectious disease in population is crowded appears; It is not that infectious disease increase to be chronic with various relevant of unhealthy life style such as smoking, unhealthy diet, lacking physical training and getting drunk, such as diabetes, cancer and heart disease,etc.; Traffic accident of the road, injuring, violence and crime often aggravate the burden of the urban hygiene.
Margaret Chan says, the population of some cities increases too fast, cause the construction of facilities of the relevant hygiene not to catch up with, for example there is not sewer in some cities of the low income countries in some. In addition, because of the reason of respects such as the gap between rich and poor,etc., also there are unfair phenomena in urban hygiene.
WHO thinks, involve a lot of respects because of the urban hygiene question, is responsible for the government departments of different affairs such as environmental protection, traffic, education, recreation amusement and urban planning,etc., need to carry on the coordination of policy and action, could reach better result in this way.
WHO still initiates the propaganda activity of a hygiene on the same day, encourages the regional city in order to cooperate with the hygiene to propagate some open public places, encourage people to collect and propagate the meritorious deeds of outstanding urban hygiene workers.
